- Allianz ranks 39th among Interbrand’s 100 Best Global Brands.
For the second consecutive year, Allianz has become the world’s leading insurance brand, according to Interbrand’s Best Global Brands ranking.
This news comes at a particularly uncertain time for markets and the industry worldwide as they navigate the challenges of a global pandemic.
“Our focus on resilience, integrity, and the customer is paying off. Allianz has once again been recognized as the number one insurance brand globally; this is fantastic news and confirms that we are on the right track,” said Oliver Bäte, CEO of Allianz SE.
“We are immensely proud to be the number one insurance brand and to have secured our place among the top 40 global brands. In just ten years, Allianz has risen from 67th place on the list—with a value of $4.9 billion in 2010—to 39th place, with a value of nearly $13 billion in 2020. While half of the brands in the Top 100 did not grow this year, Allianz’s valuation increased by seven percent despite the crisis, reaching $12.935 billion,” noted Christian Deuringer, Head of Brand and Partnerships at Allianz SE. “We have set ourselves the goal of becoming a Top 25 brand by 2025.”
For Allianz, this ranking is much more than a sign of the brand’s growing strength. It also demonstrates Allianz’s increasingly important role in people’s lives.
“During Covid-19, we worked very hard to keep our promise and go the extra mile, taking on an even more significant role in the lives of our customers, employees, and communities—helping to secure the future and deliver value to our customers during these challenging times,” said Serge Raffard, Head of Group Distribution, Marketing, and Strategy at Allianz SE. “Our customer focus and resilience allow us to stand alongside brands from any industry. The diversity of our offerings—such as health services like ‘Doctor on Call’ or ‘Chat with Allianz Partners’—had an immense impact during the pandemic and truly made a difference,” Raffard added. “We are now facing a major milestone with our Olympic partnership, which launches worldwide on January 1, 2021. And we look forward to many more milestones.”
Interbrand publishes the Best Global Brands report annually. The report aims to identify the world’s 100 most valuable brands. Interbrand’s brand valuation methodology was the first to receive ISO 10668 certification.
To qualify, brands must be publicly traded and have a global presence. Brands are evaluated based on the economic profit attributable to brand sales; the role of the brand—that is, the extent to which the brand influences purchasing decisions; and, finally, brand strength, which is determined by ten different internal and external brand performance factors.
